Honk, Wail & Moan cross paths with the music of Sun Ra, Charles Mingus, Ellington, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Raymond Scott, Lightnin Hopkins, Howlin Wolf and Stravinsky and are influenced by Avant Garde to New Orleans Traditional to Film scores and Cartoon music. HWM mainly perform the original music of our members, especially the late Brian A Casey and Mark B Greenwood, alongside favorites by Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and others.
Formed in 1991, HWM have performed all over Columbus, the Midwest and even Thailand, Philadelphia, Virginia Beach and NYC. Many things have been said about us too: "Roundly entertaining; raucous; inventive; serious musicianship with a wacky sense of humor; swinging in a head-nodding, foot-tapping, enveloping fashion" among other things!
